No more Admission below 70 % in Germany

Many students are planning to study in Germany after 12th because of low tuition fees and strong career opportunities. But now a major update has come that can completely change your Germany study plan.

At Globexa Immigration, we are getting daily queries from students who want to apply for a bachelor’s degree in Germany but are confused about the new rule of 70% marks. In this blog, we are explaining the latest APS update, what has changed, and what options are still available for students.

1. Latest Update: 70% Marks Required in 12th for Bachelor’s in Germany

According to the latest update released by APS India, students who want to apply for a bachelor’s degree in Germany must now have minimum 70% marks in their 12th class.

If your marks are below 70%, your APS certificate may not be approved. This means:

  • You may not get admission
  • You may not be able to apply for a student visa
  • Your Germany study process may stop at the APS stage

This is why at Globexa Immigration, we strongly recommend students to check their eligibility before applying.

2. When Does This Rule Start?

The new rule has officially been implemented from 15 March 2026.

This means:

  • If you applied for APS before 15 March 2026, the old rules will apply
  • If you apply after 15 March 2026, the new 70% rule will apply
  • This rule mainly affects students applying for the September / October 2026 intake (Winter Intake)

Many students from Panipat and nearby areas are planning for this intake, which is why this update becomes very important.

3. Is This Rule for Bachelor’s Only or Master’s Too?

This is the most important clarification.

The 70% rule applies only to bachelor’s degree students.

If you want to apply for a master’s degree in Germany, then:

  • 60% in 12th is completely fine
  • Even 50% in 12th is not a problem
  • APS can still be cleared
  • You can still apply for admission and visa

At Globexa Immigration, most students who have lower marks in 12th are now planning for a master’s route instead of bachelor’s, because it is still possible.

4. Why Germany Requires 13 Years of Education

Germany does not accept 12 years of schooling directly for a bachelor’s degree. They require 13 years of study.

That is why students usually follow one of these three pathways:

1. Direct Admission (If You Already Have 13 Years of Study)

If you already have 13 years of education and 70% in 12th, you can directly apply for admission in Germany.

2. Studienkolleg (Foundation Year in Germany)

Many students first go to Germany for a 1-year foundation program (Studienkolleg). After completing this, they start their bachelor’s degree.

But now the rule clearly says:

Even if you go for Studienkolleg, you still need 70% marks in 12th.

3. Completing 1 Year of Bachelor’s in India

Another option is:

  • Complete 12th in India
  • Complete 1 year of bachelor’s in India
  • Then apply for Germany after completing 13 years of education

But again, the same rule applies. Without 70% marks in 12th, APS approval may not be possible.

5. What Happens If Your Marks Are Below 70%?

This is where many students are confused.

Even if you:

  • Complete 1 year of bachelor’s
  • Apply for Studienkolleg
  • Study in another country first

If your 12th marks are below 70%, your APS may not be approved.

That is why at Globexa Immigration, we always recommend students to choose the right country based on their academic profile instead of taking risks.

6. Public vs Private Universities in Germany

There are still many opportunities available for students who meet the 70% requirement.

Public Universities

  • Almost zero tuition fees
  • Very high competition
  • Best for students with 80%–90% marks

Private Universities

  • Tuition fees around €8,000 – €11,000 per year
  • Easier admission compared to public universities
  • Still eligible for post-study work opportunities

Our team at Globexa Immigration helps students choose the right university based on their marks, budget, and career goals.

7. Does This Rule Affect Ongoing Applications?

No.

If your APS application is already in process, this new rule will not affect you. Also, students applying before the winter intake may still have a chance under the old rules.

But for the September / October 2026 intake, this rule is fully applicable.

Final Advice from Globexa Immigration

This update has completely changed the admission strategy for students who want to study in Germany after 12th. Now the most important factor is your 12th percentage.

If you have 70% or more marks, Germany is still one of the best and most affordable countries for higher education. But if your marks are below 70%, you must plan carefully and choose the right pathway.
