Short Courses for Canada PR

If you are already inside Canada on a study permit, work permit, visitor visa, or any valid status, you can explore short courses that open a pathway to Canadian Permanent Residency (PR).
These programs, often linked to healthcare or education special category draws and certain Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) streams, can lead to licensing and, eventually, PR.

At Globexa Immigration, we guide you through course selection, licensing, and PR strategy to maximize your chances of success.

1. Why Short Courses Can Help You Get PR

  • Duration: Just 6 months

  • Fields: Healthcare & Education (high-demand occupations in Canada)

  • PR Advantage: Eligible for special category draws with lower CRS cut-offs

  • Work Opportunities: Paid or unpaid co-op placements arranged by colleges

  • Location Flexibility: Many courses can be completed online from anywhere in Canada

2. Popular Short Course Options

Recent months have seen refusals for SOWP even when the primary applicant’s study permit was approved. This is often due to stricter rules and reduced temporary immigration targets.

If your spouse visa is refused, you can:

  • Change your program (e.g., move to a Master’s degree) to meet eligibility criteria.

  • Apply for a Visitor Visa instead.

  • Reapply for SOWP after addressing refusal reasons.
